Fracking's last mile, without crews in the desert
Sand Revolution (now part of TSS) automated its sand delivery operations in Midland and Odessa with CEDAR, PID's logistics platform for oil fracking operations.
Challenge
Sand delivery operations scattered across the Midland and Odessa deserts, dependent on field crews and lacking end-to-end visibility: high personnel costs and manual coordination.
Solution
PID designed and implemented CEDAR: a cloud platform with centralized dispatch, a dedicated driver app (iOS/Android), GPS/DOT tracking, direct integration with silo hardware (real-time weights and sensors), digital ticketing with eBOLs and integration with the client's ERP.
Results
- 15.8 billion lbs of sand moved (2025)
- 99.2% delivery accuracy
- Drastic reduction in field-crew costs
- Total operational visibility, from the desert to the central office
