How MAXXIM scaled its fracking operations with automated sand metering and remote monitoring.
Challenge
Automate sand dosing for hydraulic fracturing — holding precise flow rates while operators sit miles from the rig, across changing conditions and sand types.
Solution
Complete PID integration: closed-loop R&D design with load cells, intelligent dual-compartment switching (AIR), a remote recalibration panel via Starlink (SaaS), and a reinforced 3-button control box. We manufacture all automation equipment and integrate it in-house at Maxxim Industries' (HMLV) manufacturing facility.
Results
- Metering accuracy from ±10-15% to ±2%, held across remote operations
- 60% fewer site visits (from 20 to 8 per month)
- +40 silos monitored from the central office
- OTA updates eliminate on-site recalibration trips
