From 2,000 to 8,000+ units: reverse-engineering a national vending fleet
The original supplier disappeared without documented firmware. PID rebuilt the system from scratch and scaled it past 8,000 units.
Challenge
The client ran 2,000+ stores on equipment from a supplier that disappeared: no documented firmware, outdated 2G technology and an operation that couldn't stop. A new system had to work like the old one — with modern technology.
Solution
Reverse engineering of the original system and development from scratch: smaller, cheaper custom PCBs, in-house firmware, 4G communications, 20 prototypes deployed in real stores for testing and continuous iteration — with PCBA assembly, harnesses, casings and production packaging under one roof.
